During the 2026-2027 influenza (flu) season, the ACHD will supply several brands and styles of flu vaccine, all of which are trivalent and protect against H1N1, H3N2 and one influenza type B virus.
The CDC recommends everyone six months of age and older receive an updated 2026-2027 flu vaccine, with September and October being the best time for most people to receive a flu vaccine. The vaccine is available while supplies last. One shot is all most people will need. Children under age nine, who have not previously been vaccinated against the flu, may need two doses.
Most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare, will cover the cost for flu vaccines. Those 18 years of age and younger who are uninsured or underinsured will be able to receive a vaccine for no charge as part of the Vaccine for Children Program. Uninsured or underinsured adults (19 years of age and older) may be required to pay a fee (see costs below) for the flu vaccine on the day of the visit.
